The ladies of Rho Theta are helping children that need money to survive and grow each year by trick or treating for UNICEF. UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, is working in 156 countries to provide health care, clean water, nutrition and education to children and their families. We carried around the "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" boxes and collected donations for this national initiative.

Sickle Cell

The ladies of Rho Theta held a Sickle Cell Awareness Day twice during the month of September, honoring National Sickle Cell Awareness Month. This was also done to honor one of our chapter members that has this illness. We distributed information with candy about the illness as well as collected donation for a Sickle Cell foundation.

To promote awareness of the importance of regular mammograms, we distributed pink ribbons along with pertinent information on Breast Cancer. Contact tables were also held in the student union where a display board with information on Breast Cancer and Mammograms was featured. Students were provided with the opportunity to ask more in depth questions about Breast Cancer, mammograms, and why this issue is more dangerous to African American women. This day was a complete success and was only one of many displays of public service by the ladies of the Rho Theta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
